It’s Saturday, and the weekend is finally here! That means it’s time for new puzzles, and of course, some good shows and movies to relax with afterward. Today’s Wordle Analysis
Every day, I use Wordle Bot to analyze my guesses. You can also check your own Wordle score with it. Here’s a breakdown of how my game went today:
I almost got today’s Wordle in 3 guesses. If only I had swapped the S and the T, I would’ve nailed it! I started with STORE, which left me with 28 possible words. Then, I guessed LAYUP, which narrowed it down to just 2 words. But here’s where things went a bit funny – Wordle Bot said I had only 1 word left, but that wasn’t true! I think my guess of PASTY instead of PATSY was the issue. I got there in the end, but it could’ve been quicker!
My Competitive Wordle Score
Both the Wordle Bot and I guessed in 4 tries today, so we tied. Here’s my current score for the month of May:
- Erik: 5 points
- Wordle Bot: -1 point
How to Play Competitive Wordle
Here’s a quick guide to how Competitive Wordle scoring works:
- Guess in 1: 3 points
- Guess in 2: 2 points
- Guess in 3: 1 point
- Guess in 4: 0 points
- Guess in 5: -1 points
- Guess in 6: -2 points
- Missing the word: -3 points
If you beat your opponent, you get 1 point. A tie means 0 points and losing gives you -1 point.
Fridays are 2XP days, meaning all points (positive or negative) are doubled!
Wordle Etymology: The Story Behind “Patsy”
Did you know? The word patsy comes from the Italian name Pasquale, often shortened to Patsy. It was used in old vaudeville shows and early 1900s slang to describe someone who was easily tricked or deceived. Over time, it came to mean someone who takes the blame for something they didn’t do.
